BIOGRAPHY

Professional Actor, West End Performer and Cabaret Vocal Entertainer.

Scott has been a professional performer for almost three decades evolving through the world of Musical Theatre, TV and vocal cabaret.

Scott would always say that he developed his love of performance from his parents, one a professional singer, the other a session guitarist. Lynne, his mother was also and award winning vocalist who worked the clubs of Yorkshire.  As a child he could often be found sitting in the corner with his coke and crisps watching her perform.

Scott was born and raised in Sheffield and it was whilst at school that he developed a love of the dramatic arts. He was a member of the Sheffield Youth Theatre and performed in many of their productions.
When the time came to leave mainstream education and pursue a career he'd already decided to head to London to train as an actor.

He won a scholarship at the much respected and renowned drama school 'Italia Conti', famous for the likes of Naomi Campbell, Russell Brand, Louise Nurding & Martine McCutcheon. He enrolled on the actors course and graduated a few years after.
It was during this time that he was cast in his first TV roles for The Bill, The Manageress & Noel's House Party.

His vocal talents and ability developed tremendously during his time at drama school and he soon found himself in the world of Musical Theatre.
It was whilst he was performing in the musical adaptation of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales at the Arts Theatre in London's West End that he was approached by the musical director of Miss Saigon, which was playing at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Scott was asked to audition for the lead role of the American G.I, Chris (a part which Scott always believed he would play).  After auditioning for the producers, directors and Cameron Mackintosh himself, Scott was offered the role.
He played the role in London's West End for Two Years, earning tremendous acclaim and respect and performing to hundreds of people each night.

His next role in Musical Theatre was as 'The Narrator' in Willy Russell's, Blood Brothers. He toured the UK with Bill Kenwright's production and worked alongside the fantastic Bernie Nolan who played the role of Mrs Johnstone.

When Miss Saigon ended its run in the West End it then moved to Manila in the Phillippenes, which is also home to one of it's most famous cast members, Lea Salonga. Scott was invited to join the cast and again enjoyed performing the role of Chris to hugely enthusiastic audiences at 'The Cultural Centre' in Manila. He was delighted to perform opposite Lea Salonga.

"If there's one reason to actually see Miss Saigon, it's to watch Scott Anson as Chris.  His is a different characterisation altogether, not as cynical and thus more emotionally vunerable.  There's also a certain youthfulness to the performance, notably in Act One, such that when faced with the dilemma in Act Two, the inner torment is more openly painful.  His solo in 'The Confrontation' ranks as one of the most poignant scenes in the musical, and in the tragic finale, one actually sympathises with Chris more". Review by Vladimir S. Bunoan

"This is the first time I have seen the role of Chris done the way it should be done - boyish.  It is only with Scott Anson that I saw a boy who matches the youth of Kim". Review by Freddie Santos. Philippine Daily Inquirer

After this, the show embarked on an Asian tour, taking in Singapore and Hong Kong after rehearsals in Sydney, Australia.  Scott has been very priviledged to have visited some of the most amazing countries in the world whilst performing and rehearsing with Miss Saigon.

Upon returning to the UK, Scott married his long time partner, Marie and they now have two young boys, Finley and Reuben.
They decided to move from London to raise a family. They moved to the Derbyshire countryside where they remain.

Scott has also produced and directed his own musical ventures, including a four piece vocal harmony showband, MATINEE and Can U Feel It, a popular, contemporary duo. Both were very succesful and Scott admits to learning alot during the process. (see links).
He also filmed the pilot of a new TV sitcom, starring alongside his friend, Lucy Davis, (Dawn from The Office) and he also had a role in the TV adaptation of Keen Eddie, shown on Sky One.

For all musical theatre and acting work, Scott is represented by Bryn Newton at top London agents Saraband Associates.

In 2004 Scott won the Mercury Award for Best All Round Entertainer.
